Rougegorge cut her political teeth helping run campaigns and campaign headquarters while still in high school, running Moratorium Programs against the Vietnam War (& going to marches on Washington with her Mom), was a Democratic Town Committeewoman in L.I., NY when only 18, worked for Women’s issues including lobbying the NY State Legislature when in High School & for the Equal Rights Amendment in the Congress when in Graduate School, helped found the original Brandeis Women’s Resource Center and a Women’s Radio Show on WBRS FM in college, worked on environmental issues with MASSPIRG – including the original bottle bill, was a picket captain for the UFW in high school and college, was a Community Organizer for S.U.N. (Somerville United Neighborhoods) in Somerville, Massachusetts after college, helping people become empowered to fight for better conditions in their neighborhoods…
Growing up listening to WBAI Pacifica radio and other independent media, pet issues include media consolidation, voting problems and disenfranchisement, the environment, sustainable agriculture, women’s issues, social justice, healthcare, support for arts & culture, information dissemination, & activism.
A full time working artist/designer/craftsperson, when rougegorge (aka Robin) is not designing, knitting, beading, reading or cooking, she is busy worrying about the state of things and trying to do something about it!
