STATEMENT OF CHARLIE KIREKER, CHAIR & MARK GREEN, PRESIDENT, FOR AIR AMERICA MEDIA
By Tim Einenkel
Last week Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for abusive, obscene language at a recent public appearance in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.
Air America Media was informed last night by Ms. Rhodes that she has chosen to terminate her employment with the company.
We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America. We will soon announce exciting new talent and programming that will accelerate Air America’s growth in the future.

ABOUT NOVA M RADIO
Nova M Radio is in the business of building a progressive talk radio network with the original founders of Air America Radio. Nova M Radio’s affiliate markets include Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Seattle, Miami, Phoenix, Portland, plus both Sirius and XM Satellite Radio. Nova M Radio nationally syndicates “The Randi Rhodes Show” and “The Mike Malloy Show” and operates radio station 1480 KPHX in Phoenix, Arizona.
ABOUT RANDI RHODES
Randi Rhodes is a radio pioneer who put Progressive Talk Radio on the national stage when everyone told her it could not be done. This Brooklyn native became a national talk radio hero to millions when in 2004 she left South Florida radio, where she had the #1 ranked talk show in her market, for national syndication. Randi started her radio odyssey quite modestly by playing ‘classic country’ in a storefront studio in Seminole, TX but today holds the mantle of the #1 progressive talk show host in the nation. Randi is impeccably researched and infectiously funny, she starred in the HBO documentary “Left of the Dial”, is listed in Talkers Magazine’s “Heavy Hundred” and is probably watching C-SPAN right now.
I just caught Randi on “Larry King” tonight.
Green 960, who sponsored her appearance, is a “Clear Channel” affiliate. Nova M is in the Clear Channel portfolio. Her suspension was a blatant attempt to break her pre-existing iron clad contract with AAR. Thats why the “suspension” was indefinite. They wanted her to agree to modification of the terms before they would “allow” her to return to their airwaves. F That. C-ya, wouldn’t want to B-ya.
I caught Randi tonight, too… not only on Larry King, but also, she called in to Mike Malloy’s show where Marc Maron was sitting in. I’ll post a link to the segment when it’s available. She fleshes out the disagreement with AAR management regarding her contract some more.

Thanks, metamorpheme, for the link update re: the message board… once the official message board is back up, I’ll update again. I assume it’ll take a while for the webmaster to scrub links/mentions of AAR and replace them w/Nova M!
